The story
Mitti Clay belongs to Earth & Fibre. Jute, natural fibre and undyed wool in textured weaves and braids — rugs where the fibre itself is the design. The design pairs an architectural grid with occasional solid cells and a few decisive diagonals with a palette of taupe and rust.

Materials

Natural Fibre. Sisal, hemp and plant fibres with an architectural texture.
Vacuum regularly; avoid moisture.
Craft
Handloom. Woven on a manually operated pit or frame loom, typically with a dense, low-profile structure.
Handloom weave with a dense, low-profile pile.
Woven by hand on a loom. The weft may show gentle irregularities in tension and tone — a natural result of hand weaving, not a flaw.
Handmade variation — a shift in tone, a slightly irregular edge — is the character of the process, not a defect.
Care
Vacuum regularly; avoid moisture. Shake out or vacuum on both sides; many flatweaves are reversible and can be turned to even out wear. Use a rug pad to keep the piece flat and in place.

Silk sheen is remarkable
Changes through the day with the light. Worth every bit of care it needs.
Jawaja weavers prepare their own warps and wind weft bobbins on a charkha, and an average dhurrie of about 4 x 6 feet takes roughly two to three days on the loom.
