Stair runners, measured and fitted with precision

A staircase is seen from every angle and walked on constantly. A stair runner softens footsteps, adds warmth and brings pattern or texture to one of the most architectural parts of a home.

Stairs demand careful measurement and fitting. We recommend flat-woven or low, dense pile wool constructions for stairs, for both safety and durability, and we will advise on width, border and the method of fixing, whether with rods, clips or concealed fittings.

Measurement and installation are arranged with experienced fitters. We will discuss how the runner turns at landings and winders, and how it meets the floor at the top and bottom of the flight, so that the finished stair feels considered from end to end.

We will also talk about how the runner will wear. Stair nosings take the most pressure, and a construction that suits a hallway may not suit a busy flight. Samples help, and we are happy to send them before you decide.
