Kalam Graphite

Kalam Graphite belongs to Contemporary India. Abstract fields, bold colour and modern geometry — contemporary design made with Indian craft techniques. The design pairs overlapping fields of colour crossed by loose, gestural lines with a palette of black and grey.

Hand Tufted. Yarn punched through a stretched backing cloth with a hand-held tufting tool, then latexed, backed and sheared.

Hand-tufted cut pile on cotton backing cloth, latexed and finished with a cotton canvas back.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by punching yarn through a stretched backing cloth with a hand-held tool, then sheared and finished by hand. Small variations in pile height and colour are part of the handmade character.

Handmade variation — a shift in tone, a slightly irregular edge — is the character of the process, not a defect.

Vacuum without a beater bar; blot spills immediately. Some shedding is normal in the first months and settles with regular vacuuming. Professional cleaning recommended. Use a rug pad to keep the piece flat and in place.
