Nila Archive belongs to The Heritage Archive. Medallions, spandrels and rosette borders from the classical carpet vocabulary, re-scaled and re-coloured for rooms that live today. The design pairs a medallion composition finished to a softly weathered surface, as though time has already begun its work with a palette of indigo, blue and beige.

Craft
Hand Knotted. Each knot tied individually around the warp threads, then clipped and washed. The most time-intensive and durable construction.
Asymmetric knot on cotton warp.
Hand-knotted rugs are made knot by knot on an upright loom, then washed, clipped and finished by hand. Slight variations in tone (abrash) and in dimensions of up to 2–3% are natural signatures of this process.
Handmade variation — a shift in tone, a slightly irregular edge — is the character of the process, not a defect.
Care
Vacuum without a beater bar; blot spills immediately. Rotate every six to twelve months to even out wear and light exposure. Professional cleaning every two to three years. Use a rug pad to keep the piece flat and in place.

Silk sheen is remarkable
Changes through the day with the light. Worth every bit of care it needs.
In the symmetric Ghiordes knot the yarn passes over two adjacent warps and both ends are brought up between them to form the pile.
