The story
Khwaab Ivory belongs to Artisan Editions. Our most ambitious hand-knotted designs — larger in scale, finer in detail and made in small numbers. The design pairs rows of flowering plants in the manner of India's garden carpets, framed by a meandering vine border with a palette of ivory and gold.

Materials

Pure Silk. Fine, lustrous filaments that allow exceptional detail.
Professional cleaning only; keep out of direct sun.
Craft
Hand Knotted. Each knot tied individually around the warp threads, then clipped and washed. The most time-intensive and durable construction.
Asymmetric (Persian) knot on silk foundation.
Hand-knotted rugs are made knot by knot on an upright loom, then washed, clipped and finished by hand. Slight variations in tone (abrash) and in dimensions of up to 2–3% are natural signatures of this process.
Handmade variation — a shift in tone, a slightly irregular edge — is the character of the process, not a defect.
Care
Professional cleaning only; keep out of direct sun. Rotate every six to twelve months to even out wear and light exposure. Professional cleaning every two to three years. Use a rug pad to keep the piece flat and in place.

Beautiful craftsmanship
You can feel the handwork. Slight tonal variation across the field makes it feel alive.

The two principal pile knots are the symmetric (Turkish or Ghiordes) knot and the asymmetric (Persian or Senneh) knot; the asymmetric knot is widely used in carpets from Iran, India and Pakistan.
