Rug guide · 04
Fibre decides how a rug feels underfoot and how it behaves over time. Match the material to the room and the life lived in it.

Wool is the foundation of the handmade rug. Its natural crimp lets the pile recover from footsteps, its lanolin helps it resist soiling, and it takes dye deeply, ageing to a soft sheen with use.
Best for: Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and most everyday spaces

Resilient, naturally soil-resistant and quick to recover from footsteps. The right choice for most rooms, including busy ones.
02
Silk offers fine detail and lustre, but marks more easily and should be cleaned professionally. Bamboo silk is a plant-based viscose fibre with a similar sheen; it is weaker when wet and best in quiet rooms.
03
Cotton is the traditional fibre of the dhurrie: light, cool and easy to clean. Jute brings a natural golden texture, but is sensitive to moisture and less soft than wool.
